Featured Partner: Canal Park Brewing Company

Craft Beer, Great Food, & Amazing Views
Canal Park Brewing Company is a locally owned family venture. We’ve successfully owned and operated many businesses in the Twin Ports and the surrounding area for over fifty years. However, creating a brewery on the shore of Lake Superior was a longtime dream. Our ties to the brewing industry in Duluth go back as far as the 1940’s and 1950’s when our great uncle, Maxamillian Herrnberger I, was employed by Fitger’s Brewery. As a treat, he would bring these handcrafted beers and sodas to family gatherings. We salute those who’ve mastered the art of crafting beer and we’ve passed on these rich traditions from one generation to the next. Welcome, we hope you enjoy the craft beer, great food, and amazing view.

Things To Do:

Aerial Lift Bridge

Rising above the Duluth's piers, the Aerial Lift Bridge is one of Canal Park’s most iconic sights - and it’s just steps from Canal Park Lodge. Watch massive lake freighters glide in from Lake Superior as the bridge lifts to let them pass, then drops back down for vehicle traffic. The viewing area along the lakewalk and canal pier offers great photo opportunities day or night, especially at sunrise or when the bridge lights reflect on the water. It’s a must-see stop for first-time visitors and a classic Duluth moment for locals, too.

Duluth Lakewalk

Stretching along the shoreline of Lake Superior, the Canal Park Lakewalk is one of Duluth’s best ways to soak up the outdoors. This paved, scenic path winds past beaches, parks, public art, and postcard-worthy views of the harbor and open lake. Take an easy stroll, go for a morning jog, or grab a coffee and enjoy the fresh lake air - there’s something to see in every season, from summer sailboats to winter ice formations. The Lakewalk also connects you to nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions, making it a perfect “start here” adventure right from Canal Park Lodge.

Fitger’s Brewhouse Complex

Fitger’s Brewhouse Complex is a Duluth landmark where history, dining, and local shopping come together on the Lake Superior shore. Housed in the former Fitger’s Brewery - once one of the Midwest’s largest - today the brick complex features restaurants, a brewpub, coffee and dessert stops, and an eclectic mix of boutiques and galleries. Browse gifts and locally made goods, sip a craft beer, or catch live music and seasonal events. With its classic architecture, cozy patios, and easy access to the Lakewalk, Fitger’s is a fun place to spend an afternoon and a perfect stop year-round. It’s great for couples, families, and groups.
