Things to do in Duluth in August

August 2012 Events

It’s August already! Two thirds of our summer gone. How can we stretch out these last few weeks of blissful sun and warm weather? Well, my first idea was to sit and stare at the clock, watching the seconds tick slowly by.  That would definitely make it seem like time had slowed down.  But that’s not the point really, is it?  No, we of the frozen north need to grab hold of every ounce of sunshine and store it somewhere deep inside us, to keep us warm through the winter!  So I’ve compiled as many things as I could think of to do in Duluth, MN before summer is over.

If you enjoy big events and entertainment, here are the upcoming events for the first few weeks of August.

Annual Duluth Events:
24th Annual Bayfront Blues Festival (Aug 10th – 12th)
Glensheen’s 18th Annual Festival of Fine Art and Craft (Aug 11th – 12th)
Duluth’s Half Tri (Aug 18th)

Kid Friendly Events:
Watch the Wednesday sailboat races
Movies in the Park
Fabulous Fiber Art for Kids (Aug 13 – Aug 17)

There’s always something going on at Grandma’s Sports Garden!
Need some laughter? Renegade Theater Company is a must see.

Really soak in the sun:
The Lake Superior beach is an obvious choice, but there’s much more to Duluth than our stretches of sandy beach.
Hawks Ridge free
Enger Park Tower free
Lakewalk free
Willard Munger State Trail free
Spirit Mountain Adventure Park
