2016 Bentleyville Tour of Lights, lights up Duluth

Set-up has already begun, in fact it started at the end of September! It takes a lot of volunteer hours to put up 4 million lights in Duluth’s 20 acre Bayfront Park! There are NEW displays, more lighted tunnels, and Santa will be in a whole new area. The big lighted tree has also “grown” by 50,000 lights!

Lights will start twinkling November 19th. Don’t wait, make your reservations now to make sure you’ve got the best accommodations. Our Duluth Hotel is just 1/2 mile from the festivities.

Enjoy complimentary hot cocoa, cookies, and popcorn as you walk through each display. Stop by the warm campfires and roast marshmallows. Get your picture taken with Rudolph and of course visit Santa and Mrs. Claus. Don’t forget your ice skates! Weather permitting, the ice rink will be glistening and holiday music will be playing.

Need a little preview? Here’s a short video of the park from 2014.

As always, this is a free event, although donations are appreciated.

The Glensheen like you’ve never seen it before!

Butler from Glensheen promoting their newest Servants Tour

Butler from Glensheen promoting their newest Servants Tour

Maybe I’m just a little swept up in the popular T.V. series Downton Abbey, or maybe it’s the fact that Glensheen has created multiple new tours. I don’t know, but there’s a whole new excitement in the air!

You can tour the full mansion, see it by flashlight, explore it’s shore by kayak, marvel at it’s grandeur at Christmas, and even examine the life of the Glensheen servants. My personal favorites are the gardens, carriage house, and sunroom.

Another great way to tour the Glensheen is a self guided tour. These tours truly provide the best of both worlds. Rather than following a guide through the Mansion, you can move through the mansion at your own pace, spending as much or as little time as you would like in each room. Knowledgeable tour guides are stationed in every room and hallway ready to answer questions.

Whether you love the history or want to pretend you’re on the set in a Duluth version of Downton Abbey, I know you’ll have a great time. Stop by the front desk here at Canal Park Lodge for discount tickets for their Classic Tour.
